Transport
A special report on international transport
This summer, the strategic transport projects review will report from Transport Scotland. Started in summer 2006, the study will make recommendations on “a portfolio of land-based transport interventions to be taken forward between 2012 and 2022”. This will establish the basis for the ongoing development of Scotland’s transport infrastructure to meet the demands of the 21st Century.
But what are some of the international benchmarks that the review will be compared against? This special report examines transport strategy around the globe. Featuring interviews with industry leaders and experts, it will look at the potential for Scotland’s international links via air, sea and rail; case studies of regional transport strategies in Europe, America and Asia; the suitability for Scotland of innovative transport modes; smart travel systems; and, as work gets underway on Edinburgh’s tram network, how 20 years on one city has fared with its trams.
