A special report on 60 years of the NHS
On the eve of the 60th anniversary of the NHS, this special report asks whether the service stands true to its founding principles and how well it performs in Scotland today. The report will look at the challenges that lie ahead, how it will adapt to the changing demands of society and the SNP’s vision of a ‘mutual NHS’ where ownership and accountability is shared with the public and staff.
It will also examine the localising of care and the forthcoming Local Healthcare Bill, healthy design, ensuring quality of service, the role of the Third Sector, the greening of the NHS, the rights of patients, empowering people to implement their own care plans and the progress in embedding early years intervention in the improvement of the nation’s health. The report will feature interviews with leading policy-makers and practitioners and insight from experts in Scotland and abroad.
